Spark Stories

I can do hard things.

October 30, 20251 min read

Embarrassing (and sadly true) story.

As a kid I broke down into full tantrum mode when the perfect sandwich Mom made me fell apart on my plate.

For me, that beautiful stack of bacon, lettuce, and tomato had to be ‘just so’ or I wasn't interested.

On the other hand, Thomas Edison was an expert in the art of overcoming obstacles.

In fact, Edison once said, “I have not failed 10,000 times—I’ve successfully found 10,000 ways that will not work.”

Our kids face their own “lightbulb moments” every day.

Sometimes it’s a math problem that seems impossible, or a project that just won’t come together.

As parents, it’s tough to watch them struggle. But those moments of frustration are actually the doorway to growth.

Here at Full STEAM Ahead, when our students learn to pause, take a breath, and try again, they’re building something more powerful than knowledge—they’re building resilience.

They start to realize: “I can do hard things.” And that’s a lesson that will carry them far beyond the classroom - or the kitchen table. 😊

Question of the Week:

Can my child, who may be neurodivergent or even have a tough time academically or behaviorally at school, excel in a STEAM class?

YES!

As cited at nature.com, Dr. Jillian Schreffler says, “The interdisciplinary nature of STEM allows these students to explore and learn in various ways and better understand complex concepts.

Such authentic experiences promote students’ participation in learning rather than acquiring knowledge through isolated facts.”

With our expert teachers, whole-child approach, engaging lessons and materials, and like-minded peers, kids tend to find their place at Full STEAM Ahead, time and time again.

And it’s beautiful, every single time.

Until next time,
