Integration of subjects has been the new way we are introducing STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math)  to our students.  The next generation of science standards accentuate engineering design along with scientific inquiry.   It is important for students to know, understand and connect the  relationship between scientific investigations and engineering design.  This cross connection of knowledge allows for greater problem solving abilities, new idea generation and stronger understanding of technology.  There is also the idea that integrating engineering and science also increases mathematical understanding during the process.  The goal is for students to realize the importance of science and engineering in innovation and in solving many of today’s challenges.

Architecture and Design

In our Smart Art camps and classes, students explore art concepts connected to STEM topics and view the relationship between Art and STEM. In this camp, students will explore the idea of floor plans and design layouts and blueprints. Students will draw and design buildings and rooms from various perspectives.

The Science and Engineering of Fishing

Any angler will tell you that fishing is much more than just dropping a line in the water. The science governing fish behavior, feeding patterns, weather, and tidal movement are just a few of the variables that dictate a successful fishing trip. Add all that science to that 3D printing and designing fishing lures, and you’ve got an AWESOME STEAM Camp. BYOFishing Rod.

Aspiring astronauts apply within! The saying, “it’s not rocket science,” gives rocket science a bad name. It implies that it’s not fun and can’t be done by amateurs. Well, we are here to prove that wrong. In our Rockets camp, students will be learning about aerodynamics and aerospace engineering principals, as well as the challenges that engineers face in launching rockets. Ages 8 to 13 Cost: $250 Date: July 15 – 19, 9am – 12pm

Advanced Design

Learn how to 3D print anything you can imagine! Design and 3D print your custom creations using our 3D modeling software, computers, and four 3D Printers. Complete design challenges and prototype new inventions! 3D Modeling experience required
